ABOUT

C+ Astro is the songwriting project of Erick Castro, an independent songwriter based in the New York–New Jersey area.

Erick writes alternative indie but does not limit himself to one genre. The production shifts from stripped-back arrangements to fuller pop textures, depending on what each song requires. His music explores experiences that are deeply felt but rarely expressed: staying when leaving would be easier, walking away when staying has become too costly, and the private decisions that alter the course of a life. With a direct and restrained approach to songwriting, Erick creates space for listeners to interpret each song through their own experiences.

Erick co-writes with his father, Brazilian songwriter José Wilson. Wilson co-wrote several songs recorded by Fernando Mendes, including “Você Não Me Ensinou a Te Esquecer,” later recorded by Caetano Veloso for the film Lisbela e o Prisioneiro. The song was nominated for Best Brazilian Song (Portuguese Language) at the 2004 Latin Grammy Awards.

Erick’s perspective is rooted in the example set by his grandfather, Marciano, who transported freight by horse-drawn carriage in a small Brazilian village. After losing most of the movement in his right arm at age 19, Marciano faced significant physical and economic challenges, yet went on to build ten rental properties, brick by brick. His resilience, resourcefulness, and determination continue to shape Erick’s approach to life and music.

Outside of music, Erick holds a degree in economics from the University of Southern California and has built a career overseeing complex agreements and a multibillion-dollar portfolio of research and development initiatives.

C+ Astro is guided by the belief that emotional accuracy matters more than emotional volume. The debut body of work, It Got Too Real Inside, was shaped by periods of silence, distance, and personal reflection. Each song is released with purpose — created not to chase attention, but to connect with listeners who recognize something of their own lives within it.

COLLABORATE

The recordings released under C+ Astro are intended to present the songs and their production direction, not to replace human performers.

Erick is looking to collaborate with singers, musicians, and producers who connect with the material and want to help develop, record, and perform these songs.
